GARDEN RAILWAY
The gauge 1 (45mm gauge) garden railway is a fairly recent addition to the clubs attractions, it caters for a variety of scales from 1:32 which represents standard gauge in gauge 1 thru the popular American 1:29 scale to models of English and Australian narrow gauge trains in1:16, 1:22 and 1:24 scales. Although these trains are all of a different scale they use the same gauge 1 track, the American trains are far bigger than English and Australian narrow gauge trains but they all end up the relatively same size when scaled for gauge 1 track.
The railway has a large double track mainline and a large staging yard with plans for a branch line, this is all set in an established garden area with both ground level and elevated track set at a very comfortable working and viewing height. A small township will eventually be built as members build up structures for use on the railway, the trains are either radio control or manual control, battery powered or live steam, the track is not electrified at this stage but if enough willing workers become involved who knows what the future will bring.
HO MODEL RAILWAY
Located within its own viewing room within the clubrooms is the clubs HO scale model railway, this sceniced and detailed model railway features 3 main lines, shunting yard and station area, a river Murray style wharf area with a paddle steamer, tunnels, a steep gorge and a narrow gauge railway snaking across a tall trestle. The model trains run on this railway are beautifully modelled replicas of modern container trains that we see today on the railways, and steam trains of a bygone era, railcars, the Ghan and Indian Pacific trains add to the realism of this miniature railway.
